Criterion 6: Continuing Professional Development

£5.99

This mini guide takes you through each of the three questions of Criterion 6, helping you decide which CPD to write about and what to include.

Description

Criteria 6 is a 900-word stand-alone section about a Continuing Professional Development activity you have completed in the 12 months prior to sending in your BACP application.

It is broken down into three questions:

  • 6.1 Describe the activity
  • 6.2 Provide a reason for choosing it with reference to your practice
  • 6.3 Show how it has influenced your practice

Knowing how to tackle this question includes choosing the right activity to write about, one which fits with your overall way of working and demonstrates your commitment to learning. It asks you to show how you use that new knowledge in practice with your clients.

In this guide, we will look at how to choose the best activity to answer this Criteria and then explore how you answer each question, with full guidance on each section.

When you have written Criteria 6 Continuing Professional Development you are 25% of the way to completing the Reflective Criteria. Don’t be put off because you are unsure how to complete this section, use this guide to talk you through it step by step.

This is for guidance only and, in line with BACP policy, is not a template for writing your own submission.
