Criterion 7: Self-Awareness

£5.99

This mini guide takes you through each of the three questions of Criterion 7, exploring what self-awareness means to you and how it influences your practice.

Description

Criteria 7 is a 900 word stand-alone section about Self Awareness.

It is broken down into three questions:

  • 7.1 Describe an activity or experience which has contributed to your self-awareness
  • 7.2 Provide a reason for choosing it
  • 7.3 Show how you use this in your practice

Self-awareness is a cornerstone of our work as therapists but writing about it can cause confusion because there are so many aspects you could explore. Knowing how to tackle this question includes choosing the right activity to write about, one which shows sufficient depth and breadth to your awareness. It also requires that you show how you use this in practice with your clients.

In this guide, we will look at how to choose the best activity to answer this Criteria and then explore how you answer each question, with full guidance on each section.

When you have written Criteria 7 Self Awareness you are 25% of the way to completing the Reflective Criteria. Don’t be put off because you are unsure how to complete this section, use this guide to talk you through it step by step.

This is for guidance only and, in line with BACP policy, is not a template for writing your own submission.
