Description
The SCoPEd framework is the system which has been introduced “to provide clear information on core training, practice and competence requirements for those seeking the services of counsellors and psychotherapists, so that they may make informed choices”. It is about understanding which competences you need to meet to put you in Column A, B or C or the framework (depending on your eligibility).
There are five themes within the framework:
Theme 1 – Professional framework
Theme 2 – Assessment Theme
Theme 3 – Therapeutic relationship
Theme 4 – Knowledge and skills
Theme 5 – Self-awareness and reflection
There is little guidance available on what it means to work within these competences or what you would need to do to move between the columns. In this mini guide we will give some hints and tips on interpreting the framework. We also provide a copy
of the framework for you to easily reference and work with.
